How to measure for Camaro Rims
Finding the right fit for your new Camaro Wheels is fundamental. Here is what you need to know before ordering a new set of wheels. To make shopping for aftermarket Camaro Wheels easier, we've included all the measurements below in our product descriptions - as well as suggested tire sizes.
1. Wheel Diameter
2. Wheel Width
3. Wheel Offset
4. Wheel Backspacing
How to measure Camaro Wheel Diameter
Knowing your wheel diameter helps determine what tire size you will need. You measure the diameter of the wheel from the inner lip of the barrel.
This measurement is taken on the outside or inside of the wheel by using the inner portion of the wheel's lip for our edge. Taking the measurement from this location gives you the wheel diameter you want.
How to measure Camaro Wheel Width
Wheel Width determines tire size, and the wider the tire - the more power for your Camaro. A wider tires gives more power and allows you to get to the ground without spinning the tire.
To measure wheel width, you want to take the measurement from the inner lip. If you measure the outer lips your measurements will be incorrect.
How to measure Camaro Wheel Offset
Measuring your wheel offset for your Camaro is important because a negative offset can cause wheels to rub. Wheel Offset is the measurement between the centerline of the wheel and the mounting surface of the wheel. Offset is measured in millimeters in either zero, positive or negative measurements.
Zero Offset is when the hub surface is the on the centerline of the wheel.
Positive Offset is when the hub mounting surface is towards the front side of the wheel.
Negative offset is when the hub mounting surface is towards the back side of the wheel.
You measure the wheel offset by finding the centerline of the wheel and taking measurements from there to the mounting hub. This allows you to make sure you are going to clear any components like strut towers, sway bars or control arms.
How to measure Backspacing?
Backspacing is the distance from the hub mounting surface to the inside of the lip of the wheel. More backspacing puts the tire closer to the center of the car.
To measure Backspacing you need to measure from the back side of the hub to the outer portion of the wheel's barrel.
